The Gîte
Beautiful, Family friendly farmhouse
The farmhouse has been carefully restored over 4 years and fitted out to a high standard, with a French style to the furnishings and decoration.
Named after the huge Catalpa tree that stands at the front of the 17th century farmhouse, La Maison Catalpa faces south and sits in 2 acres of mature grounds. A large sheltered terrace overlooks the private swimming pool and houses the jacuzzi.
It’s a picture-perfect setting for sharing special times with friends and family. The farmhouse is extensively-equipped to host families and groups holidaying together but also perfect for couples looking for off-peak season breaks.
Located in a semi-rural hamlet in the Dordogne bordering the Charente, La Maison Catalpa is situated in an enviable golden triangle of riverside beaches, bastide towns and villages, most notably Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne, which is officially recognised as one of France’s plus beaux villages.

We offer both year-round gîte rental and, outside the months of July & August, a bed & breakfast service. This versatile accommodation is ideal for family and group holidays.
Explore The Grounds
The two acres of grounds encompass mature fruit and nut trees and colourful borders with shrubs and bushes. At the end of the garden a delightful little stream, The Rizzone, meanders its way to the Dronne river. There are ample sun loungers, drinks tables and parasols so you can just relax and soak up the wonderful French sunshine!
Pool & Terrace
Our 5.5m gated swimming pool is next to the gite and is accessed via a decked area. A small terrace with bar stools is adjacent to the pool and is just the spot to enjoy a cocktail!
The pool is open from May to the end of September. A large shaded dining table is located on the terrace and is perfect for family meals. You can also cook al-fresco on our sizeable gas BBQ.
Games For Kids (& Adults!)
Kids can run around to their heart's content in our secure, fenced garden. A wooden climbing frame, badminton net, table tennis table, croquet sets, boules and swing ball are all at your disposal.
An outdoor toy box holds bats and balls, swimming aids and of course buckets and spades for the fabulous local river and lake beaches.
We also have a large selection of adult & children’s bikes for you to use.
Heated Jacuzzi
Our large, seven-seater jacuzzi is available to use year-round. It is located directly in front of the farmhouse on the terrace and is set to a wonderfully simmering 38 degrees.
